GRANDMOTHER SUPPORT PROGRAM
Grandmothers are the key support structure for children in Uganda and are essential to their
survival. With so many children left orphaned by AIDS and other natural disasters, grandmothers have filled the role of parents and guardians. They have the burden and the unique opportunity to support their grandchildren to become educated young leaders.
The objective of Better Tomorrow Community Center’s Grandmother Support Program is to help grandmothers overcome their grief and any other emotional barrier, so they can support one another to improve their lives and the futures of their Grandchildren.
While the primary focus of the Grandmother Support Program is to equip grandmothers with
knowledge, skills and strategies to help them create a better future for themselves and their
grandchildren, a secondary component of the program delivers relief to vulnerable families to make their lives a little easier.
